A private dream journal you can write or speak into

Dream memory fades within minutes of getting up. in.between is built for that thin window after waking: you catch the night in whatever shape it survived, and the people, places and patterns that keep returning gather on their own.

How in.between works

You wake, you open it, and you put the night down before it goes. Everything after that is the house arranging what you already wrote.

Catch the night while it is still close

Write it in the composer, or talk it through out loud instead — both land in the same journal, so you can start speaking at 4am and finish in text at the desk. A single image is a complete entry: there is no minimum length, no streak to protect and no score at the end of the week. If the night is already gone, Starters hands you a first line to push against, and Nalani asks one question at a time rather than interviewing you.

The rooms

  • Journals — one night is one thread, dated and searchable, yours to name, file into a folder, or delete.
  • Index — the people, places, weather and feelings your nights keep reusing, gathered as they repeat.
  • Paradigm — a map where each night is a pin and the threads between them are what two nights share.
  • Markers — the wall of stills your nights leave behind, including the ones Imagine makes from what you wrote.
  • Tracking — a calendar of the nights you actually wrote, beside a room that holds how you slept.
  • Companion — Nalani, in text or out loud, whichever is closer that morning.

Nobody else is reading

There is no feed, no profile, no followers and no audience. Writing an entry is not posting it. Nalani remembers your nights and nobody else's, and signing in with a login you also use for another product does not copy your nights into it. You can delete a night, a journal, or the whole account whenever you want. She is a companion rather than a therapist — if a night is heavy she stays with you, and still points you toward a real person.

Where it runs

in.between runs in the browser on phone and desktop, and there is a signed, notarized Mac app on the downloads page. The iPhone app is on the App Store. Everything hangs off one account, so the night you start on the phone is the same night you finish later — not two entries that only look related.

What it costs

Every account starts free in Traveler, a weekly room with chat, Imagine, markers and sleep, and no card required to begin. The paid writing rooms are Dreamer at $29.99 a month, Voyager at $59.99 and Oracle at $139.99, each 15% cheaper billed yearly and cancellable at any time. Every paid room includes time with Nalani out loud, and everything refills with the month.

Answers

What is a dream journal?
A dream journal is a record of your dreams kept as close to waking as you can manage, because dream memory fades within minutes of getting up. in.between is a dream journal built for that thin morning: you write or speak whatever survived waking — a doorway, a face, a color on water — and a companion called Nalani sits with you while the rest comes back.
How do I remember my dreams?
Write before you do anything else, and start with the fragment rather than waiting until you can tell it properly. A single image is a complete entry in in.between — "I only have one image from it" is a normal first line. If the night is already gone, Starters gives you a first line to push against, and Nalani asks one question at a time instead of interviewing you, so the missing pieces tend to surface while you talk.
Is my dream journal private?
Yes. in.between has no feed, no profile and no audience — writing an entry is not posting it, and the rooms that organize your nights (Index, Paradigm, Markers, Tracking) are maps for you rather than windows for anyone else. Signing in with a login you also use elsewhere does not copy your nights into that other product. You can delete a night, a journal, or the whole account whenever you want.
Can I record a dream by voice instead of typing?
Yes. Brainstorm is the same companion out loud: you speak the night, Nalani answers in a voice, and the spoken session lands in the same journal a typed one would. Typing and speaking share one thread, so you can start out loud and finish in text. Every account gets a taste of spoken time, and every paid room includes it — a few nights a month on Dreamer, several on Voyager, most nights on Oracle.
